In education, Muhanga District has 98 Nursery Schools with 6834 pupils, 134 teachers, and 149 classes,
with a teacher: student ratio of 1:51.
There are 107 Primary Schools with 72,320 pupils, 1242 teachers.
There are 26 Secondary Schools with 11190 students, 739 teachers
14 Higher Institutions of Learning. There is also 1 Center for the Disabled and 2 Technical Schools.
There was introduction of Anti-AIDS Clubs in schools to combat the HIV/AIDS pandemic in
the young generation and Never-Again Clubs to fight the genocide ideology in schools.
All Secondary school were obliged to put in place a “DEVISE” that shows the long-term strategies
this helps the students to study knowing the goals set before them and working hard to achieve them.

Muhanga district has introduced the 9 years Basic Education system of education, with 25 school carrying 4040 pupils ( 1813 boys and 2227 girls).In all these school, primary and secondary school, they have braught in a patriotism and civic education sceance once a week talking to differents topics related to.

Muhanga District amplifies the education of Handicap children, where 713 attend school
