Muhanga District has swamps occupying an area of 580 ha among those 90% is ready for crop cultivation.
Terraces have made on an area of 305 ha of land. 1377.73 ha were used to cultivate cassava, 170 ha to
cultivate rice, 92 ha for irish potatoes, and 3 081 686 trees of coffee among these 1.932.200 are being harvested.
There is also livestock farming in Muhanga District, however this is mostly done on a small scale basis.
The following are the statistics of livestock in the District:

  • Local cattle: 4,2994
  • Hybreed cattle: 4,978
  • Cattle donated by H.E the President of the Republic: 646
  • Cattle got on loan terms: 135
  • Mixed breed cattle: 2,946
  • Other livestock: 135,910
